Her style reminds me of Joelle Jones's style in her Lady Killer series. Combining the road trip genre with the supernatural and kickass female characters will always make me want to read it.ģ. Three witches have to go on a road trip and retrieve their stolen items in order to stop a Big Bad? Sign me up. I became aware of her on the podcast Buffering the Vampire Slayer where she frequently does a Fashion Update segment. Hellcat, Edward Scissorhands, or a variety of other projects. You might know Kate Leth from Patsy Walker A.K.A.

I’m not sure if there is a third volume in the works but I will be reading that if/when it comes out.1. I would recommend this to fans of the series, graphic novels and anyone who likes urban fantasy. It’s not that I didn’t love the book - I did - but these minor grievances made the story a little flatter. There were a few highlights including the beautiful color story and illustrations as well as the excitement of traveling through the Southwest. I also didn’t enjoy the love triangle moment with Jolene, Claire, and the mysterious girl. We have checks and balances for a reason and, as Rumplestiltskin would say, all magic comes at a price. This and the surprise ending just didn’t sit right with me. In this volume, she occasionally used her magic at the expense of others and engaged in petty crimes (theft) with no consequences. This volume was very Jolene centric, which would have been fine, but I didn’t appreciate some of the decisions she made. This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2020 (thanks Covid for the delay) but unfortunately I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would. As they get closer to their destination, it’s crucial the girls get to the bottom of who is possessing Claire and why, before it’s too late. We had similarly exciting mini adventures along the way including running into a mythical beast, yummy beignets and more. When the possession becomes stronger, the girls realize that this is actually a girl from Jolene’s past and she wants to see Jolene! But the feeling isn’t mutual.

after Claire becomes possessed by an unknown villain. We’re back on the road for volume two of Spell on Wheels! This time the girls are cruising through the Southwest of the U.S.A.
